About the Program

The Program

The Right Program for Your Farm

Polk County has purchased a unique new interseeding machine, tall enough to straddle rows of plants and apply cover crop seed under the canopy of late-season crops. It’s a cutting-edge technique that is expected to yield better success with the cover crops.

Timing is No Longer an Issue

If you’ve thought about the benefits of planting cover crops but feel the seeding window is too short, then this is the program for you. By interseeding in late summer, your cover crops can be established well before fall harvest.

By enrolling in the program, you get an expert package solution for soil conservation. A Heartland Co-op Conservation Agronomist can help every step of the way, providing guidance on your farm, help manage seeding programs, and generally act as a partner to make land conservation effective and EASY.

How Do I Participate?

Participating is easy! Contact a Heartland Co-op agronomist or sign up here to enroll. Heartland will take care of all the details and their Conservation Agronomists can even help you sign up for public and private cover crop cost-share programs!
